about

Prismatic, the new recording from Juno-nominated Canadian jazz guitarist Jim Head, draws inspiration from the vibrant energy and richly creative music of New York City. Showcasing his detailed, lush, unpredictable, and adventurously melodic compositions, Head builds on influences like masters Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock, and contemporaries such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aaron Parks, and Melissa Aldana, while forging a voice that is contemporary and distinctly personal.
Highlights include the driving opening track “The Stone”, the soulful “Dawnstruck”, the atmospheric open landscape of “Potter’s Wheel”, and Head’s tribute to the L Train and the New York subway experience, “Showtime”.
